"Microsoft.VC90.CRT" error during installation of 0patch Agent

Some users have reported an error like this occurring during installation of 0patch Agent.

In all cases, this problem was resolved by one of these actions:

  1. Check if your "Windows Modules Installer" service is running. You can do that by opening Windows Command Prompt (cmd.exe) and typing "sc query trustedinstaller". If the state of the service isn't "RUNNING", you can start it by typing "net start trustedinstaller". After verifying the service is running try installing again.
  2. Manually install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package which you can download here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368
  3. Uninstall all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages

    chris.woo Thank you for alerting us. Apparently Microsoft has issued a new version of redistributables due to a security flaw in the previous version. We have updated the link accordingly.

    Hello, 

    My trustedinstaller was not started as the directions stated, so I started it. This did not fix the issue. 

    2008 SP1 is available from the microsoft website but will not install. I get the exact same error when trying to install 0patch as I do trying to install 2008 SP1 as stated in the instructions

    Finally, I'm going to try uninstalling all .NET and C++ and then reinstall to see what happens.

    This issue started after 1) I updated windows and got a black screen (no log on screen) after my MSI logo appears during boot. So, I ran a system restore to which a lot of things were missing or needed reinstalled. One was 0patch and well.. I just can't get it installed because of this vc90 error.

    Hi cloudstudy.32zx, thank you for reporting this. We have no new information regarding troubleshooting this problems. Please let us know if the uninstalls/reinstalls helped.

    Hello, 

    I think in WinSxS there are already files there and that is stopping the installation of certain programs. I think this is caused by either ChkDsk or perhaps System Restore. I've recently done both on my system as a result of a black screen error at start up. After the manufacturers log, the windows log on screen should appear but it does not. I get a black screen. So, booting into recovery, and then a system restore fixed the issue. 0patch however, was not installed after the restore so I tried to install it and I'm getting the VC90 issue.
